What Does Your Eye Color Say About You?

What does your eye color reveal about your nature and personalityEyes do not lie. They are the windows to the soul as they always tell the truth. One aspect of eyes that makes them make us so easy to read is the eye color. Eye color is a genetic trait that is also determined by the amount of melanin in the eyes. The iris of the eye determines the eye color by deciding how much light to pass through it.

In this article, we will discuss what different eye colors say and depict about various personality types.

Dark brown-What does brown eye color say about you?

Brown eye color is the most common eye color in the world with nearly 55% people around the world having it. You may want to act tough but your dark brown eyes betray how kind and sensitive you are. This earthy color also signifies a personality type that is confident and at the same time simple and humble. People with dark brown or medium light brown eyes are known to make great lovers as they go out of their way to make their loved ones feel satisfied and happy. People with dark brown eyes evolve as leaders and are less likely to have vices or addictions. They are physically fit and possess immense mental strength.

Green eye color and what it depicts

Green eye color is one of the rarest eye colors in the world (others being seen in albinos and people with Heterochromia). You may want to turn away and act stubborn, but your green eyes make it clear that you “are in it” and you will adapt. Green grey eye color also tells the world of your intense passion and elevates the mystery and enigma of your soul. Green is also considered a very youthful, invigorating color-so these people tend to bring vibrancy and compassion wherever they go. If you possess green eyes, you might come across as someone who gets angry at the drop of a hat or is mysterious; but you can hold the reins well under pressure. You perform exceptionally well where others fail, especially since you are quick and decisive.

Blue eye color-what it means

Blue is the second most common eye color in the world. All blue eyed people have come from the same ancestor. It is said, that people with blue eyes are immune to pain. (They can tolerate pain several times more than people of other eye colors). They also display great stamina. Blue eyed people also can withstand long hours of discomfort and you might never hear a whimper from them.

Black eye color-what do black eyes mean?

It is said that people with dark or black eyes are very trustworthy and they keep secrets like their life depended on it. They are very responsible with everything around them especially their friends. They can withstand pressure and are not swept away by the tides of time and circumstance. They are reliable and not affected by emotional upheaval. Their advice often stems from experience and indifference to momentary distress. Don’t go away thinking they are serious or boring; because they have a wild side too and can be the life of a party.

Light eyes-Light green, light blue or light grey eyes and what they depict

People with light eyes are sensitive to the pain of others while being more immune to their own. They are like a breath of sunshine when it comes to aid and comfort others in their dire circumstances. They are very friendly and happy go lucky. People with lighter shades of eyes like light grey, blue or green are fun – loving, friendly and always enthusiastic. They can lift your spirits with complete ease and are also sweet natured. They have a great sex appeal and are often a hit at parties with their looks and lovely nature.

Hazel eye color and what it means

Hazel is an uncommon shade for eyes but if you do have it, you just might hit the jackpot. You are all in one and one in all. You are strong, sensitive, and secretive, and possess immense physical strength and stamina. You tend to go for things when the time is right-thanks to your ‘in the moment nature’..

Grey eye color and what it indicates

People with grey eyes are sometimes plagued with intense inner conflict of emotions and they often find it hard to make rational decisions. But no matter what the struggle, they emerge as strong as ever.

Despite what the common opinion is or what science says, each of us is a unique individual irrespective of the color of our eyes. Each of us will also have our own quirks, weaknesses and strengths. While it is great to receive some gifts from nature, it is up to us to make the best of life and live it fully.

  1. Adyson Kauffman says:

I have light brown eyes the same color of my hair, my hair color is Auburn which is weird but it’s cool I’m the only one in my family that has light brown eyes my little sister has blue eyes my oldest sister has green my other sister has brown and my brother has brown eyes

  2. Lois Bailey says:

Can you please tell me what’s with my eyes then? I have a mix of gray-ish color, green with a gray-ish blue and a little bit of some kind of bronzy gold in the center

  3. Do pink eye colors mean anything? Rarely this happens, but your eyes can change to pink overtime. About 2% of the people in the world have pink eye color.

  4. I have eyes that switch around from blue to topaz or even jade every few hours based on mood or weather… what does this mean and should I go to the doctor… my mom has brown eyes that flash green when she gets really scared so it kinda runs in my family along with my dad having an extra cone but I don’t know how they go together

  5. I have black eyes and have always been a outcast but if i feel really angry happy or sad it can change colour is that normal?

    • Persephone says:

That is known as “silver eyes” unless people call it other tings, but its a perfectly normal type of eye effect. Those born with green or brown eyes, (black is really just a dark brown so yes) have a large chance of having “silver eyes”. They change color based on different things for different people. Some people depending on mood, place, weather, the clothing they are wearing, a lot of stuff. But don’t worry, its perfectly normal.

  6. Kaycie says:

My eyes were original a very bright blue. As a child I was bullied and over time they changed to grey. Could the mental torment have changed them? I know this sounds weird but it’s a question I have been wanting to ask.

    • Gabrielle says:

Everyone is born with blue eyes but they usually change within 5-6 years of life. I had the same question too, my eyes used to be bright blue also but changed to grey around the same time my younger sister was born. Turns out the timing was just a coincidence, that is probably what also happened to you.

      • christian says:

hey that also happened to me when ever i am bullied my eyes slowly turned grey but then over the summer they changed back to blue because i don”t know how but i think its cause you are depressed a lot and when people are deppressed they feel grey so your eyes turn grey pretty good expaination am i right i think i am

  7. I wish I had green or hazel eyes because they are so beautiful and interesting to look at. But I got stuck with this dumb light brown colour that has a bit of green, but not too much, so they’re not a beautiful hazel. Everyone else in the comments has such interesting eyes colours, like sea green, or eyes that change colour.

    • My eyes are Brown in the middle and green on the edge.

    • It doesn’t matter how beautiful your eyes are, it only matters how beautiful your soul is. I have hazel eyes, but no one cares. I get bullied for being ugly, and having ugly eyes, by blue eyed people. And in all honesty I really think your eyes are beautiful. Lots of people have them, so you can relate to them! Lucky you, so don’t get so upset over it! ((:

  8. I was born with black eyes and have always been a outcast. But with the few friends I have I trust them with my life and they do the same.

  9. Sparks says:

Do your believe in astrology too?

  10. Katie says:

When I was little, I had very dark blue eyes, no one else in my family did. So when I got older, my eyes started getting lighter and lighter, along with my vision kind of acting strange, anyway, it started becoming clear to me that I was beginning to not be able to see colours. My eyes are a greyish blue now, and I can only see black and white.

  11. Charles Manheld says:

Well I guess I will be the 28429 person who talks about himself/herself so vainly. I was born with deep blue eyes, like the ocean, most often I would be stopped by strangers as a youth to stare into them which often made me feel uncomfortable. At some point in my life they developed a yellow ring around the pupil. Which after doing some online research and mind you it’s not that easy to find clear answers on this topic. From initial searches all I see is people with this have some sort of eye condition but I am certain I do not. One informational site stood out to me, it says people with yellow rings around the pupil have come from an environment of intense stress, specifically an example was of someone in the house who yells a lot. It was almost as if they were describing my child hood. Yes, this is exactly my environment as a child. My father was a yeller, and could shake walls with his voice. Needless to say, my eyes are now green. I had to use an online tool to figure out that blue mixed with yellow equals green. Most often people think I have heterochromia or some other mutation, but it’s not.

    • This is very similar to what happened to me but it was a green outline that spread outward and my eyes were a lighter shade of blue

  12. Anna J. Joslyn says:

i have eyes that turn from brown to blue what does that mean

    • DonnaLee says:

My husband’s do that too. His are slightly green, but when he’s getting sick or is sick, they go BLUE!

  13. I have light blue to dark blue to light green and to dark green eyes and my eye doctor said I’m one in a million people with this rare condition

  14. My eyes are slowly changing from brown to amber, what does this and the eye color amber mean?

  15. This is outstandingly stupid.. (sorry). It isn’t uncommon for children to believe their eyes change color because they haven’t been told about pigmentation variations or Rayleigh scattering but to be an adult think they change color with your mood.. What am I supposed to do with that? You can’t have ever mentioned this theory you have to an optometrist or other doctor because they would have explained why you perceive changes in color when it is really just your environment. PLEASE do not try to convince people to try to use their eyes like a mood ring, or worse, a horoscope. Your eye color has absolutely nothing to do with your personality.

    • You’re just mad that you have poop colored eyes Lindsey. I know that because I have hazel eyes that grant me future-sight.. totally.

      • Don’t be such a jerk Anon. It’s one thing to comment on someone’s eye color, and another to be a bully.

  16. I have blue eyes myself, but my eyes are a lighter shade of blue than most other people.. thus my eye doctor wanting me to use sunglasses.. it sucks.

    • Same! I have “light blue eyes” as my doctor says. She always tells me to wear sunglasses a lot even though I have actual glasses which sucks even more.

  17. Ok I change eye colors grey to blue and they describe me perfectly.

    • Same, my eye colors are silverish grey and my eye colors can change from grey to bluish grey to greenish grey 🙂

  18. Juli Ditty says:

I have hazel eyes and I LOVE THEM they describe me perfectly! And if I cry or am happy they turn green does that mean anything???

  19. I have hazel eye color and in the light the edge of my eye is green and the rest is brown with yellow

  20. I have grayish blue eyes…

  21. Shirley Young says:

My eyes are the most mysterious and unique.
    Dark Brown: Really Happy
    Red/Orange: Rage
    Deep Purple: Mystery
    Grey: Annoyed/ Confused
    Light Brown/ Hazel: Calm
    Blue: Upset or Sad
    Amber: Step closer to rage
    Black: Very Distant
I don’t see red, orange, yellow, or purple, violet listed. What does it mean to have one or more of the rarest eye color mixed in like a paint pallet?

    • Ethan Shipkowski says:

It’s impossible and I advise you see a doctor if your eyes are changing colors

      • XxAshleyxX says:

It certainly isn’t impossible, my eyes are checked regularly and i will tell you my eyes can be different colours every hour! I am 12 years old to add if that makes any difference, but I do research on eyes a lot and trust me my eyes change all the time, there is something called ‘chameleon eyes’ which are eyes that change colour! It is very rare but isn’t a health concern that you would need to see an optician or doctor for it.

        • Your eyes cant change colour. But if you have blue/greenish eyes and you wear a green shirt it will affect the appearance of your eye colour so they will look more green, but they will NOT change colour. Its the same thing with all type of eye colours. If you have blue eyes, and you’re wearing a blue shirt it will definitely make your eyes more blue, or make them stand out more. But its not the same if you have brown eyes, and you’re wearing a green shirt, you wont get green eyes because you don’t have any of that type of pigmentation in your eye.

    • I have to agree. My eye colour is light blue with a cloudy white in between the pupil and the blue but that’s just during the day cause at night my eyes go light green. At first I thought it was just the lighting but then night after night I noticed that it always stayed the same colour. So yeah chameleon eyes are real. Although mine aren’t a mixed pallet.

      • Although sometimes they are just plain silver/grey mum freaked when she went downstairs for breakfast. At the time I didn’t know what she was freaking on about but when she told me to go to the mirror I was a little surprised because in all honesty I was already used to my eyes changing from light blue with a cloudy ring to a light green so yeah. It was weird though. I mean sometimes they would stay silver/grey for a whole day and the next day it’s my light blue eyes. Anyway gotta go. Keep smiling. Sorry it’s my motto.
And jeez they were right about the eye colour and personality thing.
        Byeeee. 🙂

        • My eyes are silver/grey too and my eyes change from grey to bluish grey to greenish grey, depending on the lighting. Even if the lighting changes just a little bit, my eyes will change colors. In kindergarten, my teacher asked all of us what our eye colors were. She even passed around a handheld mirror so we could see. I looked at the mirror, and I said my eyes were blue. Then, my teacher looked at me and said my eyes were green, because when I looked up at her, more light entered my eye, and my eyes looked a different color. We started arguing back and forth and I was so confused during it. Now I know we were both wrong, my eyes are silverish grey.

  22. Joshua Farrar says:

I have brown eyes but I can withstand pain without whimpering or whining

  23. I dont know if i fall in the brown or not. In the shade they are normal brown. When the light hits my eyes they are like a gold or honey color with different brown shades and a couple black specs in them.

    • Kate Smith says:

Mine turn gold in the sunlight as well. So we still fall in the category of brown eyes but as well as light colors due to the gold. And black/dark brown due to the mash of colors of brown.

    • Your eyes are not an indicator of your personality. I feel like you are a person who might read their horoscope.. so please research the Forer effect (aka Barnum efect) as I think it will help you to understand better.

  24. My eyes are hazel and green, what does that mean???

  47. Vanessa Torres says:

I have dark brown eyes, but then in the sun they look like a very light honey color. Does that mean that my natural color eyes is really like an amber color?

    • Your eyes may look lighter because of the sun shining on your iris. Just like when a darker objects hit the sun’s rays, they appear lighter. It’s an optical illusion.

  48. Sean Whelan says:
