How to find a color name from a HEX code
  1. Enter a solid color code in Color Name Finder to find its display name, search for a name, or choose a photo and sample a color. Copy name & code copies the displayed name with your selected HEX.
  2. The shared naming system gives exact CSS colors their standard names. Other shades use the larger dictionary, with reviewed display preferences for some entries. Alternative names remain searchable without adding a second label to the selected color.
  3. Open Dictionary and matching to choose the full dictionary or the smaller CSS collection and inspect the reference color. Show color difference displays ΔE values; a smaller value means a closer perceptual match.
  4. Compare nearby swatches. Selecting one changes your input to that reference color, so use your original HEX when you want to retain the exact shade you entered.
  5. To sample a photo, click a pixel or use the exact coordinates and keyboard controls. Fully transparent pixels are skipped; partially transparent pixels are displayed against white. Images stay on your device.

Enter #008000 to see the CSS name Green, or #00FF00 to see Lime. Most possible HEX colors have no universally official name, so dictionary labels can also describe nearby shades. Use the name to discuss a color and the HEX code to reproduce it precisely.
