Simulation settings
Brettel models full dichromacy at 100%. Lower settings blend the original and simulated colors; they are not a measured severity level.

Compare simulation methods
Brettel and Machado use different models. At lower settings, Brettel blends its full result with the original; Machado changes a model parameter.
How to use Color Blindness Simulator
- Choose Palette to inspect individual colors or Image to preview a complete design. The color blindness simulator helps you look for distinctions that may become less clear under simulated color-vision differences.
- Compare protan, deutan, and tritan simulations, associated with differences in long-, medium-, and short-wavelength cone responses. Grayscale is a separate check of lightness differences, not a substitute for the other simulations.
- Open the simulation settings to inspect the model and strength controls. Compare the original and simulated palettes, review close color pairs, or use the comparison slider when viewing an image.
- If important colors become difficult to distinguish, change their lightness or hue and add another identifying feature: a text label, shape, pattern, or line style. Check text contrast separately.
- Copy simulated color codes, download a simulation, or share the colors and settings. Shared links can reopen the included sample chart; uploaded images stay on your device and must be selected again.
Test a chart that distinguishes two series only by red and green. If the simulated colors look similar, label the series and use a solid line for one and a dashed line for the other. Simulations are approximations of varied individual experiences, not diagnostic tests or a replacement for testing with people.
